The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has caused much devastation in our area and we are continually keeping updated on improved treatment methods being used to manage the destruction of the area Ash trees. This exotic beetle was discovered in the summer of 2002 near Detroit and has since killed well over 20 million ash trees in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana alone. The larvae feed on the inner bark of the ash trees, disrupting the trees ability to transport water and nutrients, eventually leading to the death of the tree.
We at The Tree Mann are licensed and able to treat for EAB in two different ways, depending on the degree of infestation. Our Certified Arborists will determine which treatment will be most effective in your particular situation. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your ash trees.
Imidacloprid is applied by soil application as a preventative treatment for certain insects. This treatment needs to be repeated annually to be effective.
Emerald Ash Borer Holes
Tree-Age is a strong chemical that is recommended when the borer population is high in a area. The treatment lasts for 2 years before the trees need to be treated again. Because the tree needs to be drilled into to apply Tree-Age we recommend this treatment when EAB damage is evident in the area.
